Ties Strengthen with Sister Cities of Bad Soden Am Taunus

Franklin, TN - On a recent trip to Germany, Mayor Ken Moore, and his wife Linda were warmly welcomed by officials and citizens of Franklin’s sister city, Bad Soden Am Taunus. In response to a special invitation from IKUS President Ditmar Schloo and Bad Soden Mayor Frank Blasch, the visit aimed to enhance the strong bond between the two cities.

During their stay, Mayor Moore and Linda were honored to participate in the Winefest celebrations and engage in productive discussions with German dignitaries. They also took part in official talks to plan an exhibit at the bathhouse, commemorating the upcoming 10-year anniversary of the twinning in 2026. In addition to their official duties, the American guests immersed themselves in the local culture, participating in the wine festival, attending the Pentecost service, and exploring the sights of Kronberg and the Rheingau. They also took a private trip to Berlin to enhance their understanding of the country's history and politics.

Mayor Moore expressed his enthusiasm for the thriving student exchange program between the two cities and emphasized his belief in the potential for shared economic growth. He believes that citizen exchanges and idea sharing are pivotal for the continued success of the relationship between Franklin and Bad Soden.

The visit coincided with intern Liam Wittkopp spending two weeks working with the City of Bad Soden, a testament to the ongoing exchange of knowledge and culture between the two cities. In September, an intern from Bad Soden will reciprocate the exchange, spending two weeks learning about various departments within the Franklin City Government.

In support of these efforts, Board President Kim Cannon, her husband Rich, Treasurer David Haas, and his wife Jaqueline also visited Bad Soden to plan the 2026 exhibit at the bathhouse. Franklin's partnership with Bad Soden Am Taunus has been thriving since 2006, and Mayor Moore is committed to further enhancing this relationship for the mutual benefit of both cities.
